The Freeride World Champions crowned in Verbier

With Verbier just an hour away from Chamonix, and included in the Mont Blanc Unlimited pass - we thought we'd bring you some news from the finale of The Freeride World Tour.

"The Freeride World Tour 2009 came to an end with an amazing fourth stage and grand finale: the Nissan Xtreme – Verbier. The Frenchmen, Xavier de Le Rue and Susan Mol are the Freeride World Champions 2009 in snowboarding.

Xavier de Le Rue and Aurélien Ducroz, leading before the stage in Verbier, brought honor to their Golden Bibs with historic runs. On the windblown Bec des Rosses face with 55° areas which was even tougher than usual, they both opted for really tough lines. Though he had already won the Freeride World Champion title before heading down the slope, Xavier de Le Rue won the competition hands down, this being his second victory of the season after winning the Nissan Freeride de Tignes. This is his second consecutive title."

Let it snow!!!!

After almost two weeks of glorious sunshine in the Chamonix valley, we awoke this morning to a fresh blanket of snow with snowflakes forecast to carry on falling for the next few days!

Chamonix has had a fabulous winter season with tonnes of early snow creating a great base on the mountains, and although the sunshine has been wonderful there is always the risk of it making an early end to the season. This fresh dump of snow has helped guarantee the longevity of quality snow conditions throughout the valley, and we are happy to let it do so - even if it does mean having to dig the car out!!!

Boss des Bosses 2009, Grand Montets, Chamonix

We had an amazing time yesterday at the famous Boss des Bosses mogul competition at the Grand Montet, Chamonix! It happened to be the events 20th Anniversary and was billed to be a big one!

The sun was shining, the music blaring, there was amazing mogul riding, silly costumes and free vodka - who could ask for more??

Well there was..... lots more!! From the male cheerleaders of the Verbier team to the legendry mohaw wearing Glen Plake, and after parties galore ... it was definately not one to be missed!

Sponsers, to name a few, included Le Vert Hotel, who spent the whole time offering free vodka cocktail shots, Black Crows, who offered free ski testing, and Sound Music Solutions who supplied the phat sound system!

The awards were held at La Terrasse in Chamonix town centre and tonnes of after parties will be going on nightly till Sunday...... not a small event this one!

Check out all our pictures on our facebook page!

Here is the description from the Boss des Bosses site (www.bossdesbosses.co.uk):

"The Boss des Bosses is Europe's biggest inter-resort moguls contest for skiing, snowboarding and telemarking, bringing together some of the finest mogul skiers from Europe's top alpine resorts.

The 20th edition of the legendary inter resort moguls contest is shaping up to be a Spanker. We are looking forward to recieving all the resorts here again to bash it out for the title Boss des Bosses. This year's sound system is twice the size of last year's and with some of our historic DJs making the pilgrimage back to play again on the slopes."
